About US

The service user is an 87-year old gentleman who suffers from advanced Parkinson’s Disease. He cannot walk unaided. A fan of horseracing who also enjoys a daily paper (support will be needed to read this). In order to maintain continuity a regular and reliable carer is essential.

His wife is an 84 - year old lady who suffers with advanced dementia. Therefore, a regular and reliable carer is essential. Support with personal care is required as is help with day to day tasks.  


Hours & Pay Rate

This is an opportunity to join a team of carers. Hours may vary. 

Up to 14 hours per week for Mr. B and up to 28 hours a week for Mrs. B – 

This is a bank position to cover annual leave/sickness - Days to cover will be Thursday & Friday plus extra cover as and when required.

Employed on a self - employed basis with People Plus on behalf of Cambridgeshire County Council.

Hours are flexible and can be discussed at interview

Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.


Main Duties

Daily tasks would involve assisting with waking and dressing in the mornings.

Preparing light meals to include breakfast and daily lunch of sandwiches/sausage rolls.

Providing drinks throughout the day as required.

Support with trips to the toilet in a dignified and respectful manner (please note that accidents can be frequent so clean ups may be involved)

Care needs may vary day to day so the right candidate needs to be flexible within the needs of the role.

Due to night waking the candidate will need to ensure that the client is awake during the day whenever is reasonable and possible. Support with attending medical appointments as required.


Person Specification

We are looking for a positive, patient and enthusiastic part time carer to assist a service user who suffers with dementia so prior experience in the field would be advantageous. You should have a genuine interest in the providing high quality care and be able to work flexible hours. A good communicator is essential as is someone who has the motivation to develop trust and understanding within the role. Living locally would be a bonus but the right candidate for the role is the most important factor in this role.
