Support worker required for a 11-year-old boy who has an Autistic Spectrum condition and severe Epilepsy. He is a happy, sociable and lively boy. You will be required to support with a variety of activities out in the community and at home, to give his Dad a break from his caring role. This post requires constant supervision and vigilance as he has challenging behaviour.
It is important that he has structure and routine in all aspects of his life, that if deviated from can cause him to present challenging behaviours that may place himself or others at risk.
For him to be supported outside of the family home by someone who is familiar to him and is trained to meet his health needs and would support him in participating in activities and experiences. After a period of getting to know him and gaining his trust.
He is reliant upon structure and routine in all aspects of his life, if routine is deviated away from it can lead to distress and frustration and prolonged incidents of self-harm and attempts to injure others. During these times he requires a minimum of 1:1 support to prevent him from placing himself or others at risk.
Experience with working with children with special needs, Epilepsy and Challenging Behaviour and a good understanding of Autism and how to remain calm at ALL times.
£9.50 per Hour
