We are looking to employ a Personal Assistant to work with our 13-year-old son. He is a friendly, affectionate boy who needs support with some aspects of daily living. He is happiest when he is being active, like when he’s swimming or spending time outdoors. 

He loves playing on his computer /iPad and is a big fan of YouTube. My son loves watching video clips with repetition action and has started making his own videos. 

He requires close, constant supervision, he has no awareness of danger and can run off very quickly. My son can display challenging behaviour and can be unpredictable at times. 

The main part of this role is to support our son to access the community and encourage him to be more active outdoors. You will need to support him while toileting and there may be some domestic tasks like cooking simple meals and cleaning up. A very important part of your role will be to ensure his safety at all times. 

As the Personal Assistant you will work alongside us at times but mainly independently to meet our son’s needs. Previous experience of working with children with disabilities is preferred and being a car driver is essential.

We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic and proactive in their work, reliable, punctual and prepared for some flexibility in their working hours. You must also be able to respect our privacy as a family.

The Personal Assistant must be able to handle all aspects of the role. Good general health is important. We consider patience and enthusiasm to be essential attributes for this job.
