Job Title: Personal Assistant

Location: Gawsworth, SK11

Hours: 6-8 hours per week

Rate of pay: £9.50 per hour

Day/Times: 6 hours per week, guaranteed, additional hours may be added at a later date. Days and times to be mutually agreed. The majority of hours will be Monday to Friday.


Purpose of the Job

The adult needing support is autistic, has dyspraxia, learning difficulties and all over body tremor. The adult also has suspected epilepsy, absent episodes, awaiting consultation. He also has an eye perception disorder, which means he finds distancing tricky. Therefore, the candidate successful needs to be aware of this, especially during this time, with covid. However, when told he is able to keep some distance. Preferably some awareness of all his needs are required, the employer will support candidates if they are uncertain of a situation or unsure. The candidate has to have a good personality, banter and enjoys a joke or 2.

The adult needs support on daily basis, escorting to and from social activities, during the day. Therefore, driving is essential, a full clean driving licence required. This however won’t be every day. The 6 hours may be split into 2 sessions of 3 hours for one week; 4 hours one day and 2 hours another or any variation. So please be aware of this. 6 hours is guaranteed each week.

The support will be needed to give the adult a fulfilling life. Support going for exercise and walking. So, candidates need to be reasonably fit to keep up with his busy schedule. No need for your own equipment as these will be organised events by other services. Although walking attire is needed. Some activities may involve going to organised events, this may just be a case of taking him leaving him at the group and going back for him. Again, this is dependent on services available. Some weeks may involve staying at the family home playing games or walking in the local area. To begin with the candidate may be requested to support the adult whilst in the workplace. This is not clear on if this will happen, as awaiting guidance from Cheshire East.

All of the hours and activities are flexible, and employer is open to suggestions. All the activities are dependent on covid legislation but more importantly based around the needs of the adult.

Personal Assistant Specification

My assistant must be honest, trustworthy, and reliable, must respect my privacy and maintain my dignity at all times.

My assistant must be enthusiastic and flexible with a caring disposition. You must be able to work well independently.

Experience is preferred, but not essential as full training will be provided.

My assistant will need to have a full clean UK Drivers License.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure which will be funded through your employer.


My personal assistant is accountable to me in all aspects of their work. They should always ask what my needs are and listen to my directions and requests.

Main Duties

The main duties identified in the job description are examples of the expectations required; I may on occasions reasonably request additional activities to be undertaken inside or outside of the home.

Whilst with the adult, candidates need to provide basic care needs. Such as, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and prompting drinking of water.

During these times, candidates need to ensure he is always safe. Ensuring, social distancing and wear of mask if required. Ensuring basic care needs, washing of hands etc. Although he is very good at this but may need prompting.

Employer wants the candidate to be there for the adult and to be a positive impact on his life.
