Job Title: Personal Assistant


Hours: 3 to 4 hours per week covering evenings and weekends. Hours to be mutually agreed in advance. Additional holiday cover hours may be available.


Rates of Pay:  £8.91 per hour.  


Work Area /Location: Llandudno Junction, Conwy


About the Job: The purpose of this role is to provide relief one to one care and support to me, a 12 year old young man with an undiagnosed development delay condition in the Llandudno Junction area. I cannot speak and have some restricted mobility. I enjoy playing and getting out and about, so driver and car owner essential. Hours will be 3 to 4 hours per week covering some evenings and weekends, to be discussed at interview. Additional hours may be available to cover holidays. These hours are intended to be used in a way which maximises the benefit and reflects the needs of the young man. £8.91 per hour.      


Responsible to: You will be directly responsible to your employer, the client’s mother.


Main Tasks and Duties:


Help to stimulate and support active play and interaction, predominantly within the young man’s home. 


Take the young man out on social visits to encourage social inclusion and interaction. 


Driver and car owner essential, and you must be willing to use a child seat in the vehicle. You will need to provide evidence of business insurance covering you to transport the young man.  Mileage will be paid at an agreed rate.


Provide one to one care and attention at all times; this will include personal care involving changing nappies and clothing, when required, to be conducted with regard to the young man’s dignity.


Provide and supervise meals and drinks, being aware of choking hazards.


Raise awareness of danger in the current surroundings, providing constant supervision to ensure the young man’s safety.     


Any other duty commensurate within the context of the role.

Driver and car owner essential


Establish a professional standard of care which should be maintained at all times


Undertake the role with due regard to the service user’s physical   and psychological needs. 


Have work experience of child development delay behaviour.   


Respect and safeguard the goods and property of the family


Respect the privacy of the family and uphold confidentiality at all times


Be punctual and reliable, and have some degree of flexibility


Bear in mind that the role is one of empowerment for the child
