Freight & Shipping Planner - The Role:

The Freight & Shipping Planner will be responsible for organising and arranging all shipping and imports for our businesses in the UK and Europe and checking all freight and shipping paperwork such as C88’s, SAD’s and COO’s. We work with many global brands and each licensor has their own rules that must be followed for freight and shipping.


The Freight & Shipping Planner will support the Operations, Procurement and Sales teams by carrying out administrative tasks and assisting with projects involving freight and shipping. The role involves liaising with freight forwarders on sea, rail and air bookings and communicating with suppliers, customers and staff members at all levels, therefore strong interpersonal skills are essential. You will need to be highly self-motivated with a flexible approach and strong work ethic to succeed in this busy role.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all incoming freight into the business including sea, air and rail freight
  • Complete Import files to include all correct paperwork
  • Use our in-house booking system to ensure all goods are trackable by the team
  • Work with the Far East team on bookings
  • Liaise with suppliers and freight forwarders to ensure booking dates are being met and goods leave port on time
  • Use of customer systems to ensure all paperwork is uploaded correctly
  • Use of in house system to provide landed costs on products to the business.
  • Support and work with other parts of the Pyramid Group on freight and shipping
  • Negotiate freight rates for the business in conjunction with the Procurement Manager
  • Review, prepare and route purchase orders
  • Ensure the correct import/export documentation is in place
  • Provide weekly and daily inbound reporting.


Key Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 Years Logistics experience
  • Experience with Logistics and boarder/tariff rules
  • Knowledge of Far East Shipping Practises
  • Working knowledge of legal regulations
  • Must be able to work under own initiative
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP Systems
  • Innovative with strong problem-solving skills


This is a full time, permanent position. Normal hours of work will be 9.00am-5.30pm, Monday to Friday with an hour's unpaid lunch break.
