The post holder will be responsible for the 3D design/Integration of Thompson Aero Seating and 3rd party supplied equipment into seating structures using OEM, supplier and internal requirements/documents that govern the equipment. The role will have a large emphasis on managing internal and external requirements using them in the integration of the equipment in both 2D & 3D modelling formats along with technical reports and diagrams. There will also be an element of report writing, creating 2D/3D drawings, test plan development, production and project support and engineering documentation. 

You will also work in parallel with Systems Engineers to ensure electrical equipment is certified to OEM and Aerospace requirements.

You will be working in a Part 21 J ADOA Design Organisation within multi-disciplined Engineering teams to deliver innovative design solutions for new concepts & customisation of existing products for our customers across the globe, ensuring delivery to cost, time, quality & adherence to strict aerospace regulations and suitability for manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture, manage and validate engineering requirements from OEM and supplier specifications.
  • Create technical plans and reports that detail how Thompson Aero Seating products meet or exceed OEM and supplier requirements.
  • To liaise with equipment and system level suppliers in the validation of their compliance to OEM and TAS requirements.
  • Integrate TAS supplied and 3rd party equipment into seating products according to TAS, OEM & 3rd party requirements.
  • Create 2D & 3D Catia drawings and Bill of Materials for release to the production organisation.
  • Responsible for the technical governance of the engineering for the project under the instruction of a lead/senior engineer.
  • Will work with and support the lead engineers of projects to plan activities for the integration of systems.
  • Will work with the lead engineer to identify deliverables and ensure plans are delivered according to OEM milestone charts as well as TAS internal engineering releases.
  • Ensure designs meet internal and external requirements.
  • You will be responsible for the delivery of harness length definition to electrical sub-suppliers where applicable ensuring they are delivered on time and correct per in-seat installations and ensure that designs are updated in accordance with manufacturer specifications and correct to length.
  • Creation of electrical project specifications.
  • Creation of project electrical configuration documentation.
  • Ensuring lessons learned are implemented on future designs.
  • Checking of design data to ensure right first-time during design approval.
  • Ensuring design quality gate process adherence to minimise secondary flow of design data post release (rework).
  • You will offer ongoing technical support for the prototype/production teams. Support first off builds through prototype.
  • Produce technical documents, reports and presentations for both internal and external use
  • Provide technical support to sales, customers and production. Ensure a close working relationship with sales making sure that customer needs are met.
  • Successful delivery of electrical documents to a quality standard and ensuring KPI targets are being met.
  • You will have the opportunity to support customer meetings presenting the engineering data to customers during PDR, CDR, FPDR & FAI gate reviews with an emphasis on electrical configuration with the support of the lead/senior engineer working on the project.
  • Support change management through research, concepts, design reviews, trade studies, impact analysis and implementation.
