Location: Cambridge, CB22

Pay:  £13.00 per hour, Weekday days and weekday walking nights and £15.00 per hour, Weekend days and weekend Waking Nights. Pay rates to be reviewed after successful completion of probation

Full/Part-Time Hours: 12 hour shifts, days and nights: 7:00am - 7:00pm, 7:00pm - 7:00am and after school: 3:30pm -9:30pm. Days/nights/after school shifts will be discussed further at interview. Part time shifts available 

Bank Hours: To support for annual leave and sickness of current support workers, bank staff must be able to commit to at least 1 shift per month to uphold continuity of care.

Essential Experience: Aptitude and desire to work with young adults with disabilities. Must be comfortable with personal care

Desirable: Experience of and qualifications in caring for young adult with disabilities and ability to work flexible hours as required

Accommodation (while on duty): Fully adapted family home with carer accommodation

Start Date: ASAP (subject to satisfactory employment checks)

Jack aged 18 is a delightful young man.  Jack has cerebral palsy and requires adult help for all his needs, including personal care needs.  Jack requires 2:1 care in the day and one carer at night. We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive support worker to take an active involvement to help Jack reach his potential.

Jack needs vibrant, positive and creative people who actively engage with him to bring out the best in him. Jack lives with his parents in a fully-adapted house which has all the equipment and space to be able to get creative. Jack enjoys going out, watching TV, having stories read to him and games on his iPad. Jack is fed via PEG.

For this position you will need to have good experience and be comfortable handling a physically disabled young man, but other aspects of the job such as Jack's various therapies can be learnt and there are lots of opportunities to do so. Shadow shifts will be completed until the carer feels confident
