I am looking to employ a Personal Assistant to work with my 15-year-old son. He has learning difficulties and although he is becoming more independent, he still requires supervision whilst out in the community.

He is a friendly boy who can chat with anyone, he likes to be out walking or doing exercise. He likes to go into the city centre for lunch in one of the pubs or to pop into his favourite shop, HMV, as he loves music, he is great on the guitar.

The main part of this role is to support and supervise my son when he wants to access the local community, as well as social interaction at home. He suffers from anxiety which can be triggered in many different ways, so some experience of working with disabled children would be preferred.

A very important part of your role will be to ensure his safety at all times.  He has no awareness of danger, so you must take extra care when you are out in the community.

My son likes to be around happy enthusiastic people so you should be confident and outgoing. It would be ideal if you had experience of working with children with autism and challenging behaviour. As the Personal Assistant you will work mainly alongside me and under my direction to meet my son’s needs.
