We are currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel to join our growing team based in Huntingdon.

Purpose of the Job

The role is a key leadership role reporting directly to the Director, HR working within our HR Advisory teams, you will advise and coach on a full and varied caseload of employment matters. Within an education setting, you will be providing general employment law advice on a broad range of topics, including but not limited to HR policies; disciplinary and grievance processes; performance management;, restrictive covenants; restructurings and TUPE transfers; data subject access requests; employment litigation, contingent labour matters; and executive recruitment and terminations.

With a passion for blending your technical expertise with your outstanding communication and customer service skills, you will take pride in delivering a first class service to our customers. Having the confidence and ability to take appropriate daily decisions on cases to ensure swift progression will be key to your success.

Main Responsibilities/Duties of the Job

  • Support the HR Advisory teams in providing advice and guidance on complex employment matters
  • Assist with the strategic growth by networking, marketing and working with the rest of the team Develop a HR customer support strategy and execution plan for the HR Advisory, internal team
  • Act and advise in relation to the full spectrum of employment work
  • Draft and prepare legal documentation
  • Liaise with the HR Advisory teams and other professionals
  • Advising customers, colleagues and third on the merits, prospects and/or quantum of claims
  • Keep up to date with developments in employment legislation, human resources best practice and relevant case law
  • Arrange and manage employment updates and training sessions to ensure the upskilling of our HR Advisory team

 

What will it take to be successful?

 

  • Degree level (or equivalent qualification) 3+ years PQE in employment law
  • 3 years + PQE and experience working within an employment team
  • Able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge and experience across a range of employment disciplines
