About the Employer

I am 7 year old male who lives at home with my mum, dad and 4 year old brother

 

My favourite things to do are to be outdoors and explore nature, I love being in country parks and the woods.

 

I love to move around, whether it be on a trampoline, running or on a car journey -  I am happy when moving and not still.

 

Food is a huge motivator for me and I will seek sweet foods or ice creams, you will be required to support me through this by reminding me what ive eaten already today.

 

Some of my dislikes are the cinema, disco’s, big events that are in doors I struggle with too.

 

 

I have ASD and PICA and I am also non verbal. My parents have tried to use Makaton and pc’s to help em communicate but this hasn’t worked so far.

 

I am not toilet trained currently and do require to wear a nappy during the day.

 

Road safety, water dangers and general safety are issues that I don’t understand very well. I require support around this topic.

 

I like to escape and find loop holes, climbing the garden fence and exploring our local area, however this does put me at risk as I don’t understand the dangers around me

 

 

 

 

 

 

Summary of Duties

 

 

 

To provide support to access various social and recreational activities. You must therefore have a clean driving license and use own vehicle.

 

To provide support with preparing snacks and refreshments.

 

To assist in the maintenance of independent living and so provide him with a greater range of opportunities to enhance his lifestyle.

 

To support and educate with road safety, dangers, risks, appropriate behaviours etc.

 

All support to be provided using a person-centred approach.

 

The post will include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata)

 

The person they are looking for

 

The ideal person will have a good sense of humour and should also display plenty of energy, initiative and enthusiasm. In addition, applicants should be patient and trustworthy with a flexible and empathic attitude.

 

A positive attitude and clear understanding of confidentiality is essential. Promoting the independence of the client will be the main focus for any support.

 

You must be reliable, friendly and punctual.

 

You must be flexible as hours may vary depending on the monthly rota

 

The following skills/experience will be required – manual handling, first aid and food hygiene. Training can be provided.
