Experienced *Female Special Needs Teaching Assistant required to work on a private one to one basis with our client at Garth Special School in Spalding.  A higher level TA is essential due to the needs of our client who is a ten year-old girl and lives in the Holbeach area with her family.

Our client has cerebral palsy, she is wheelchair dependent and is non verbal. She is a bright young lady who is developing her communication skills though use of the iPad grid pad and Eye Gaze. Makaton experience is desirable but this is not essential as training will be given.

The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support in the school classroom, and assist the teacher in the delivery of the curriculum to our client. We are seeking someone with experience in using Eye Gaze communication and experience working with communication aids.  Ideally you will have  experience of supporting children with preparing lesson plans.

Duties will also include personal care and peg feeding. Client specific training will be given. Additional training will be provided by Garth Special School.

There is a private therapy team providing speech and language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy and you will be supported and provided with training on our clients specific programmes.

This is a job share or full time post, 08:30am to 15.00pm during term time. A job share can be considered. The successful applicant will be employed by the clients family though a Deputy.

You will be responsible to the Head Teacher and working collaboratively with the Case Manager and parents.

This is a salaried post £25,991.00 per annum, pro-rata.

The successful candidate will be working in collaboration with a rehabilitation care team working in the home to ensure good communication between home and school. Ideally you will able to attend team meetings and client specific training as additional duties.

During the school holidays there is an option to work flexibly to cover working hours with our client in her own home, supporting with community based and educational activities, participating with therapy programmes and working closely with family and professionals.

Interviews will be held at Garth School with the Case Manager, Head Teacher and parents.

All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Child Workforce Barring.  Full training will be provided. A full driving licence is essential.
