Job purpose:

To assist with the day-to-day activities enabling the employer/client to maintain an independent and fulfilling life that meets their chosen lifestyle.

About me: I am in my late 20s, currently working part-time in the arts sector, diagnosed with Female Profile of Autism Spectrum Condition, Depression & Anxiety, and chronic muscular pains.

Work Duties will include:

Helping with

  • Domestic tasks e.g. housework:
    • Laundry;
    • Cleaning (bathroom, kitchen space, dining space);
    • Hoovering;
    • Sorting out stuff;
  • Meal preparation (vegan);
  • Shopping;
  • Prompting treatments and exercise;
  • Encouragement to support employer to stay active;
  • Side note: Personal Care (washing the body, help with going to toilet, etc.) not



  • Dealing with distress and autistic overwhelm/burnout/shutdown;
  • Mental support: like chatting, calming activities;
  • Occasional help with managing “life admin” tasks:
    • Appointments;
    • Repair service bookings;
    • Some email correspondence.


Undertaking activities for employer

  • Ensuring employers home is hygienic and safe.


Other requirements

  • Working in a safe way and highlighting health and safety concerns
  • Assisting with management of employer’s health risks
  • Establish and maintain effective communication
  • Maintaining confidentiality




  • Within the employer’s home in Hanover/Elm Grove area.


Hours and rate of pay

Paying B&H Council rates:

4,5 hours a week at £9.70 per hour or £11.35 per hour if you’re self-employed.

4,5 hours a week split into two shifts, possibly Monday and Wednesday. But with some flexibility.


Requirements for applicant

  • Experience of providing personal care
  • Good sense of humour
  • Patience
  • Ability to understand and deliver the needs of the employer
  • Ability to undertake domestic activities
  • Flexible, reliable and honest
  • Good general fitness
  • DBS check
