I am a 37 year old female. I live in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. I am a full time electric wheelchair user with Spina bifida & Hydrocephalus; incorporated with the Hydrocephalus disability I have mild to moderate learning challenges/understanding challenges and memory challenges.
9.75 hours per week over 7 days as follows - £10 per hour
AM – 2 days a week 1hr 15 minutes
AM – 5 days a week 45 minutes
EVE – 7 days – 30 minutes
My support is double up with 2 workers so you will be part of a team. I use a hoist for all transfers, which you will put on charge after every use, my chair is charged every evening.
You will be supporting me with a full wash, dry and dress each morning, applying cream as required, supporting with a pad and catheter. Hoisting from bed to chair. Prompting me to take my morning medication and make sure I have drinks and am comfortable for the day.
On my longer morning calls I like to have my hair washed and dried.
Supporting me to remember things by writing notes for me, such as supplies I need to buy from town or calling the pharmacy to order creams/catheter supplies.
Taking laundry out of the washing machine and hanging on clothes airier, and putting clean dry clothes away. My compression stockings require hand washing.
Washing up, emptying kitchen and bathroom bins.
Someone with experience of supporting others and using hoists.
You will be caring and respectful when supporting me. Someone who is compassionate, trustworthy, reliable and punctual this is very important as you will be working alongside another PA.
Someone who is open with communication and willing to raise any concerns with me.
Someone with a cheerful disposition.
