About the Employer 

I am a sociable 44-year-old man living in the Wrexham area. I use a wheelchair and live with Friedreich’s Ataxia. 

Subsequently, I require support to remain independent. I require a female personal assistant 


I am an author and disabled activist with a good sense of humour. I remain ambitious and adventurous. I enjoy company and I like to go out socialising. 


I am a very creative individual and require support to develop my ideas. Due to my poor dexterity I struggle to type quickly – as a writer this is most frustrating – therefore you should have good word-processing skills. 

A full driving license is also required as I often attend meetings throughout the North Wales and North West area. 


Summary of Duties 


To provide support to access various social and recreational activities. You must therefore have a clean driving license. 


You will support him with his personal care, including toileting, washing, dressing and preparing meals. 


Support with daily household tasks; to include cleaning kitchen appliances and work surfaces, dusting, cleaning floors and bathrooms and any other reasonable task the employer requests. 


To assist in the maintenance of independent living and so provide him with a greater range of opportunities to enhance his lifestyle. 


All support to be provided using a person-centred approach. 


The post will include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata) 


The person they are looking for 


The ideal person will have a good sense of humour and should also display plenty of energy, initiative and enthusiasm. In addition, applicants should be patient and trustworthy with a flexible and empathic attitude. 


A positive attitude and clear understanding of confidentiality is essential. Promoting the independence of the client will be the main focus for any support. 


You must be reliable, friendly and punctual. 


You must be flexible as hours may vary depending on the monthly rota 


You will be expected to cover holidays and sickness as part of a team. 


The following skills/experience will be required – manual handling, first aid and food hygiene. Training can be provided. 



Hourly rate 

£10 per hour Monday to Friday 

£11 per hour at weekends 

Double time on bank holidays 

Hours of work
