Job Title: Personal Assistant/Key Worker

 

Location: Fegg Hayes, Stoke-on-Trent

 

Day/Times:  To be mutually agreed between employer and employee.

 

Hours:  As and when required 4 hours per week

 

Rate of pay:  £8.91 per hour

 

Purpose of the Job

To support a 13-year-old with Autism Spectrum Disorder, depression, and anxiety, to encourage and support with accessing social activities.

The goal is to help and support the young person in becoming confident in accessing activities safely outside of the home environment.

Experience of supporting people with Autism, challenging behaviours, and complex needs is preferred for this role. The Key Worker/Personal Assistant will always need to be vigilant to provide him with a safe and supported environment. There always needs to be consistency and structure in their support for this person.

 

Personal Assistant Specification

  • Experience of supporting people with Autism, challenging behaviours, and complex needs is preferred.
  • You must be able to demonstrate patience and encouragement of the young person always.
  • You must be adept at encouraging young people to expand their life skills and opportunities in social a given environment.
  • An interest in Computer Games and Lego is desirable.
  • A car driver with a clean driving licence is preferred.
  • You must be honest, trustworthy, and reliable, and must always respect the family’s privacy, and be able to work without supervision.
  • You must be enthusiastic and flexible, with a caring disposition.
  • You must be patient, consistent, and structured in your approach.

 

Supervision

You will be employed by a family member and will be accountable to them in all aspects of your work.  You will need to follow directions and requests and have a confident approach to your role.

 

Main Duties

  • To support with accessing appropriate leisure and social activities, inside or outside the home.
  • To provide a safe and supported environment always whilst providing the support.
  • The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure and a children’s safeguarding awareness course which will be funded through your employer.
