Job Title: Personal Assistant
Hours: Maximum of 28 hours per week. Weekend work is essential and there will be shifts offered throughout the week on occasions.
Rates of Pay: £10.00 per hour at all times
Work Area / Location: Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding areas

About the Job: The purpose of the role is to provide support and companionship to a non verbal 30 year old male with Cerebral Palsy & Quadriplegia. Support is primarily required for trips & excursions outside of the home (due to the current pandemic situation, support will primarily be provided within the home at this time). The service user has a passion for cars, motor sports & a variety of music and movies. In his spare time he enjoys going to the cinema, socialising, visiting pubs & restaurants, bowling and swimming. Knowledge or experience of communicating with non verbal service users would be highly advantageous in this role. Experience of working in a similar role would be beneficial.
Assistance with getting to and from and in and out of transport
Providing company and support outside of the home eg. With wheelchair, using toilets, negotiating difficult spaces etc.
Load/unload wheelchairs and associated equipment into and out of any transport
Accompanying to any social events, meetings, appointments, shopping expeditions etc.
Generally assisting with making trips outside of the home go smoothly
Assisting me within my own home as required
Providing assistance with toilet needs
Assistance with eating food and drinking – knowledge/experience of tongue thrust would be advantageous
Preparation of food and drink
Enable me to carry out my chosen activity whether inside or outside of my home by carrying out any other request that I may reasonably make
Driver essential – wheelchair accessible vehicle will be provide
A willingness to adapt to your employers needs is essential
