Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA)/Key Workers x 2 positions


Location: Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent


Day/Times: As and when required


Hours: 2 hours per week for each PA as and when required


Rate of pay: £8.91 per hour


Purpose of the Job:

To provide support for a young boy in Sneyd Green area of Stoke-on-Trent with a diagnosis of Autism and associated learning difficulties. He lives with his parents and younger brother. He is unable to verbally communicate & cannot be left alone at any time. He requires constant supervision therefore requires 2 x personal assistants who can ensure his safety & to accompany him to complete suitable activities which in turn will allow his parents & brother to have short breaks from their caring role.


Personal Assistant Specification:

The assistants must be honest, trustworthy, & reliable. You must always respect his privacy & always maintain his dignity.

The assistants must be enthusiastic & flexible with a caring disposition. You must be able to work well independently & as part of a 2-person team.

Experience is preferred, but not essential as full training & direction will be provided by your employer.



The personal assistants are accountable to my parents in all aspects of their work as they will employ you directly. You should always ask what the needs are & listen to his parents’ directions and requests.



Main Duties:

To collect him from school

To update parents accordingly of any issues or concerns

To support with accessing appropriate leisure & social activities, inside & outside the home, & in the community.

We would like the PA to suggest & facilitate new & exciting activities.

The PA’s must be willing to support with being transported to & from local community and leisure facilities.

Support with understanding the risks and dangers out in the community & keep him safe always.

Always supervise him closely at an activity to reduce my vulnerability to danger

Understanding of non-verbal communication techniques such as PECS or MAKATON would be beneficial.

Support of 2:1 to leave the home in event of emergency if required.


To provide a safe, supported, & a happy low risk environment always whilst providing the support he requires.


The main duties identified in the job description are examples of the expectations required; I may on occasions reasonably request additional activities to be undertaken inside or outside of the home.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure & a children’s safeguarding course which will be funded through your employer.
