Job Title: Personal Assistant
Location: Longton, ST3
Day/Times: Flexible – To be mutually agreed at interview
Hours: 4 hrs per week
Rate of pay: £8.91ph (associated costs will be met outside of this arrangement on a private agreement)
Purpose of the Job
The role will involve you working alongside a 14 year old girl who has a diagnosis of Down's Syndrome. She suffers from sleep apnoea and she receives overnight ventilation via CPap. She has a hearing impairment and she wears hearing aids. She can also display challenging behaviour and she can be stubborn.
She likes animals and enjoys going to farms, she likes funfair’s but not scary rides, fun factory, cinema but only if the film is something that she is interested in, going to the park, swimming- she is more confident in the pool now, but she requires arm bands. If the support is provided in the home then she likes to do crafts, small amount of homework, baking, being read a story, trampoline and the sandpit. She would also enjoy a short walk with the dogs.
She doesn’t cope well with a lot of noise and she doesn’t like walking far. She has a wheelchair which is used for distance.
There will be certain times of the month when some assistance with personal care will be required.
Personal Assistant Specification
My assistant must be honest, trustworthy, and reliable, must respect my privacy and maintain my dignity at all times.
My assistant must be enthusiastic and flexible with a caring disposition. You must be able to work well independently.
Experience of working with challenging behaviour and/or learning disabilities would be beneficial.
Experience is preferred, but not essential as full training will be provided.
My assistant will need to have a clean driving license. Access to your own vehicle is not essential as we can arrange for you to be insured on the disability vehicle. If you do wish to use your own vehicle then you will need to ensure that it has suitable business insurance.
The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure which will be funded through your employer.
My personal assistant is accountable to me in all aspects of their work. They should always ask what my needs are and listen to my directions and requests.
