Product Documentation Specialist

£20,000.00 per Annum

The role of the Product Documentation Specialist is to play a central role to create and update all kind of documentations for our products in the group.  The role will be responsible for improving documentation and carrying out quality checks ready for “Go to Market” with the new releases. The candidate will also keep customer documentation up to date.

The Documentation Specialist will write, publish and distribute customer friendly documents, including user manuals, release notes, and update a knowledgebase of help articles. It also involves the creation of eLearning courses and videos where appropriate. The candidate will maintain Documentation Department standards to ensure consistency across the company.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Creating and updating documentations such as:
    • Getting started guides
    • Release Notes
    • Help system / Knowledgebase
    • Newsletters
    • eLearning courses
    • Training videos
  • Collect information needed for marketing communications/new products.
  • Organise the translation of English content into other languages using machine translation tools and working with colleagues.
  • Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
  • Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience.
  • Maintain detailed databases of product reference materials.
  • Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement, for example replacing with interactive eLearning content when written documentation is under-used.
  • Working closely with colleagues across other departments to ensure that everyone is completing and submitting the necessary documentation.
  • Acting as a point of contact for retrieval of specific documentation as required.
  • Write, review and update the Documentation Team Standards.
  • Training of colleagues on documentation requirements.
  • Revising outdated documents and ensuring that all staff are using the correct version.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Must have:

  • Excellent grasp of the English language
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word and Excel

Nice to have:

  • Experience in some of our products is desirable
  • Experience with the creation of documentation across different media
  • Familiar with the creation of video tutorials
  • IT experience
  • Knowledge of the furniture industry
  • Fluency in other European languages (French, German, Spanish)
