Personal Assistant/Key Worker

Job Title: Personal Assistants/Key Workers/Carer/Support Worker x2 as the successful candidate will work as part of a 2-person team.

Location: Bentilee

Day/Times: Saturday or Sunday preferred. Times to be confirmed by the employer.

Hours: 6 hours each PA/Key Worker at 2:1 ratio.

Pay: £8.72 PH

Purpose of PA role

To support a 10-year-old who is diagnosed with ADHD & ASD to access social activities & the community. The young person can display disruptive & challenging behaviours & requires constant support, supervision, & observation.

The young person is non-verbal & communicates through gesture and touch.

Experience of supporting young people with challenging behaviours & complex needs is preferred for this role. The PA’s will always need to be vigilant to provide him with a safe & supported environment & he must always be supervised closely as he is a flight risk, has no sense of danger, & is vulnerable. There always needs to be consistency & structure in their support for this person.

The young person is a very active & loves being outdoors. He activities & sports like swimming, football, going to the park, & karate. He enjoys school & likes to be playing outside with other children. He enjoys TV & playing with his toys. He likes dancing, singing songs, & drawing.

PA Specification

The family would like to employ PA’s with similar interests who are confidently able to facilitate these activities.

Experience of supporting people, especially children & young adults, who display challenging, physical, & disruptive behaviours is preferred.

Experience & understanding of complex needs & how this will impact on family dynamics.

Experience of working with non-verbal communication techniques.

Management of Actual/Potential Aggression training.

Non-Abusive Psychological & Physical Interventions training.

To demonstrate an ability to re-direct challenging/disruptive behaviour to more positive outcomes.

Experience of positive play.

To be a reliable team player as you will be part of a 2:1 team.

The PA’s need a good sense of humour & patience. 

A car driver & clean driving licence is preferred.

To be honest, trustworthy, reliable, & always respect the family’s privacy.

You must be enthusiastic, flexible, & with a caring disposition.

You must be consistent, structured in your approach, & be able to work unsupervised.

Supervision

You will be employed by a family member & will be accountable to them in all aspects of your work.  You will need to follow directions and requests & have a confident approach.

Main Duties

*Support to access appropriate leisure & social activities, indoors & outdoors.

*These activities may include swimming, playing in the park or somewhere outside in a safe environment, & football but would like the PA to suggest & facilitate new & exciting activities.

*The PA must be willing to support with transport to & from local community & leisure facilities.

*Support with the risks & dangers out in the community & keep him safe always.

*Always supervise him closely at an activity to reduce his vulnerability to danger & risk of flight

*Support of 2:1 to leave the home in event of emergency if required.

*To provide a safe, supported, & happy low risk environment always whilst providing the support he requires.

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure & a children’s safeguarding course which will be funded via your employer.
