Purpose of the Job:

Being an HR Consultant at EPM means you will deliver assigned consultancy projects to a high professional standard, as well as attending and presenting cases were necessary at formal hearing and appeals. Focusing on the delivery of disciplinary and grievance investigations, but also participating in restructures, policy development, HR Audits, senior recruitment, mediation, and training delivery. Where consultancy project work allows, attend hearings and meetings on behalf of the HR Advisory team and contribute to the development of EPM customer resources.

You will provide outstanding customer service by delivering expert HR expertise in a timely and effective manner generating consultancy fees to support the company’s targets. Using knowledge and experience of conducting disciplinary and grievance investigations to focus on the delivery of a full suite of investigations on behalf of Schools and Academy Trusts.

Constantly striving to improve the efficiency and professionalism of working practices to meet the company’s objective of “clarity and consistency” and working “smarter not harder” to facilitate an increase in customer base whilst maintaining and improving customer service.

Main Responsibilities/Duties of the Job:

  1. To undertake HR consultancy assignments, as allocated by the Head of Consultancy, and within own sphere of competence.
  2. To deliver assigned consultancy projects to a high professional standard and within the agreed project scope in a timely manner, including the drafting of project reports and the creation of supporting document bundles, template letters etc as agreed.
  3. To respond to consultancy customer needs, via telephone, e-mail, or other correspondence, in a professional manner. Ensuring separation is maintained between the roles of the HR consultant and the role of the HR Advisory Team.
  4. To keep accurate records of the time spent on each project and ensure the customers are invoiced in accordance with the project proposal, seeking agreement for additional days were legitimately required to conclude the agreed work.
  5. Undertake regular on-site delivery to customers in areas of HR such as (but not limited to) disciplinary and grievance investigations, restructures, harmonisation of terms of employment, mediation, recruitment & selection, safeguarding, HR policy development, training, employee relations advice and other matters.
  6. To attend and present cases, where necessary, at formal hearings/appeals, up to and including dismissals.
  7. To advise and participate in complex union consultation meetings as part of the scope of an assigned consultancy project.
  8. To support and advise the consultancy customer on how to achieve and maintain an appropriate employee relations climate, where appropriate to the assigned project scope.
  9. To identify situations where legal/safeguarding support is needed and liaise with EPM colleagues as appropriate.
  10. To identify new consultancy opportunities with new and existing EPM consultancy customers, such as but not limited to note-taking, bespoke training, mediation and eLearning
  11. To provide advice and guidance to colleagues within the HR Advisory team to support their development and to ensure that all consultancy customers receive timely, accurate, professional, and independent advice.
  12. To, from time to time and when consultancy project work allows, attend hearings and other meetings on behalf of the HR Advisory Team and contribute to the development of EPM customer resources, internal training, and other projects, as agreed with the Head of Consultancy
