Rate of Pay: £9.15 per hour
Hours: 14.5 hours per week - Please apply for any days/times that may be of interest.

Monday 9am -12pm and 5pm - 6pm
Tuesday 9am -12pm
Wednesday 9am -12pm
Thursday 9am -10am
Friday 9am -12.30pm

This job is based in Thornbury but please note that all applicants from surrounding areas are also welcome. All days/times shown above are fully negotiable and open to discussion. Hours can be used flexibly depending on availability.

Job purpose:

To assist 34 y/o disabled woman with a severe sight impairment, with day-to-day activities enabling me, as your employer, to continue to maintain an independent and fulfilling life that meets my chosen lifestyle and that will also build on my existing achievements.

Work duties may include:

Personal care tasks (minimal)
Daily household chores and dealing with correspondence
Taking me to and attending appointments
Social activities outside of my home area in BS35 such as gym, swimming and cinema
Shopping for food and other required items
Preparing and cooking food and baking
Clearing away after preparing food
Cleaning and laundry
Insuring my home is hygienic and safe

Other requirements:

Working in a safe way and highlighting any safety concerns
Assistance with management of my health risks
Establishing and maintaining effective communication
Must have a good understanding of the importance of and the need for confidentiality.

Must have a positive mindset which will serve to enhance my life
Good general fitness (not essential for this role but may help)
Can stay calm under pressure, and know when to use own initiative
Must hold clean driving licence
Basic admin/recording keeping

I have a vehicle loaned to me under the Motability scheme, allows me to enjoy activities in the community, as well as being very useful for attending appointments and other requirements. For someone with a severe sight impairment and other health problems, this has made life much easier, so a competent driver who is familiar with operating a manual vehicle is essential for this job role. I have an open insurance policy for this vehicle which can be made available upon request, and an enhanced DBS check will also be required for this role.
