Laboratory Technician

An exciting opportunity for an experienced laboratory technician (preferably with qPCR/PCR experience) to join our start-up team, working closely with our Laboratory director to help us grow into a world beating personalised nutrition company.

We are a vibrant start-up nutrigenetics company looking to integrate the sports nutrition and nutrigenetics markets to create the world’s first vertically integrated personalised nutrition company. We are currently building out our DNA testing wet-lab capability and have big plans in the coming months, we are looking for team members who want the excitement of joining a fast-paced start-up and get hands on building analytical capabilities from the ground up.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological or microbiological laboratory science or medical technology.
  • Experience as a Technologist or equivalent in a molecular laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of biology, microbiology and immunology at a level required in medical technology.
  • Knowledge and practice of standard security protocols and precautions policies related to handling of potentially infectious agents.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures relating to operation of laboratory equipment and handling of chemicals.
  • Extensive experience in a qPCR, PCR wet-lab setting.
  • Thermo Fisher QuantStudio instruments experience is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Good understanding of COSHH and Health and Safety requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the laboratory director.
  • Perform all laboratory testing necessary for genotyping.
  • Be responsible for laboratory testing and reporting results in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensure equipment and instruments remain in good operating condition, recognize any malfunctions and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Maintain updated understanding and knowledge of methods performed in the lab and train others on specialized instructions and protocols.
  • Recognize, document, and escalate protocol deviations.
  • Comply with all ISO requirements through proper documentation.
