Part Time Support Worker Vacancy

Ref: ACW/SS/Barnsley

You will be working with a middle aged lady who sustained a brain injury in a road traffic accident a number of years ago.

S lives alone in her own home in Barnsley and requires support in domestic, community and leisure activity settings. She is fully mobile, with some balance difficulties. She is a smoker and does smoke in her home.

S has difficulties with cognitive skills such as memory, planning and problem solving. She suffers from low self esteem, anxiety and a depressive illness with features of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. She prefers a quiet lifestyle with set routines, such as a walk into town for coffee most mornings or listening to music.

S spends a significant amount of time with a close friend C, who is also a great support to her.

We have 1 vacancy & the successful candidate will work on a fixed rota of an average of 8 hours per week: Wednesday & Thursday 18.00-22.00. You will be working as one of a team of 3 support workers.

You will need to be flexible as you will be required to work additional hours to cover your colleagues annual leave & sickness and also to attend training & team meetings.

It is essential you have a full clean driving licence & use of a car.

You will also occasionally be required to cover additional hours outside of these times including weekends & bank holidays, when S’s friend C is unable to provide support due to holiday or sickness.

Rates of pay: £10.50 per hour weekdays

                     £12.50 per hour weekends            

Full training and support will be given, but social care experience and an understanding of mental health difficulties is essential. Female applicants only as some personal care assistance needed in public places (post exempt under The Sex Discrimination Act 1975 S7 (2)(ba) and S7 (2)(b)).
