Job Title:              Personal Care Assistant/Support Worker

Hours:                 1 PA -    6-10 hours a week

                              1 PA -  12-18 hours a week

                              1 PA -   relief PA to cover annual leave and sickness                                   

 Days and times to be agreed at interview.

Rates of Pay:      Starting pay £10.00 per hour

                         Paid holiday allowance based on hours worked

Location:             Bangor area

Aims and purpose of role:

Personal Assistant to support a lady with long term illness and disability, this will include various duties. Main aim of the role is to assist with daily living tasks as required, to enable her to maintain her independence and continue living in her own home. Applications for varied hours and cover work welcome. Starting pay £10.00 per hour. Closing date 15.07.2020

Responsible to -          Directly accountable to the employer

  • Support choice, independence, dignity and respect
  • Prepare and serve meals, drinks and support at mealtimes as required
  • Wash up after meals, keep dishes, food etc.
  • Help to get bathed, undressed/dressed as required
  • Personal care including some application of prescribed emollients/medicines
  • Assist with laundry, bed linen changing and daily bed making
  • Assist me to maintain a clean, pleasant and safe home environment
  • Support my disability. This mainly means encouraging and supporting my prescribed rest, pacing and activity/rehabilitation needs
  • Any other duties which may be reasonably allocated and fall within the scope and responsibilities of this role
  • To undertake any relevant training and ongoing joint review and supervision as needed

Personal Specification:

  • Be compassionate, caring, understanding and respectful
  • Have good communication and listening skills
  • Have good awareness of safe manual handling and hygiene
  • Preferably, but not necessarily, have experience of supporting people with disabilities. Non-judgmental, accepting attitude towards illness and disability and willingness to learn is more important
  • Establish and maintain a professional and efficient standard of care
  • Ensure that due consideration is given to Health and Safety at all times. Full PPE provided.
  • Undertake the role with due regard to the person’s physical, social and recreational needs
  • Respect and safeguard all goods and property where the person lives
  • Respect the person’s privacy and uphold confidentiality at all times
  • Be punctual, reliable, efficient and flexible

I want the person working for me to be happy in their personal assistant role/work; for me to be comfortable with the person working for me and their work- and for us to be able to communicate well with each other to ensure that things run smoothly.
