Experienced *Female Personal Assistant/Support Worker required for a lady who has cerebral palsy living in the Oxford area.
Our client is wheelchair dependant and requires support with personal care, transfers, accessing the community, managing her emotional needs and other aspects of her daily life. She has recently moved to live independently away from home.
We are looking for a competent person to join our team on a full-time basis to support our client in her daily living and work towards her independence. The personal assistant/support worker should have some background of mental health, brain injury or other similar experience, to be able to manage challenging situations and the emotional demands associated with such work. Training and therapists/case manager support will be provided.
The personal assistant/support worker should also be able to assist the client to undertake educational, social and leisure activities including, support with a home exercise programme set up by the physiotherapist, shopping, cinema and going to events. The personal assistant/support worker should be able to communicate clearly and keeping daily records is essential.
This will be an incredible opportunity to work alongside this client to enable her independence and development and to develop your own experience and skills. This role requires some flexibility as there may be events the client would like to attend out of the normal working hours.
Monday to Friday: 3 x 10-hour sleep-in shifts.
Saturday and Sunday: 9.00am to 19:00pm, alternate weekends.
Our client seeks someone who is well organised and flexible.
Rates of pay: £13.00 per hour Monday to Friday, £15.00 per hour Saturday and Sunday.
An NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is desirable. Otherwise the applicant must be willing to undertake the Care Certificate training.
All posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure with Adult Workforce Barring. Full training will be provided. A full driving licence is essential.
