Commercial Administrator

Steve Porter Transport are one of the leading independent logistics companies on the South Coast and on the Isle of Wight and are part of the Knights of Old Group based in Kettering with a group fleet of over 300 vehicles, 350 trailers and 700 employees. We currently have a vacancy for a personable individual to support our central sales unit based in Cowes as the Company embarks on a plan to further develop the business within central Southern England and the Offshore Islands.  

The Commercial Administrator may have some experience in finance and accounting but it would be important that the successful applicant can demonstrate a positive and engaging personality with a flair for detail. Experience within the logistics industry would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided. 

The main responsibilities of the Commercial Administrator will include:

  • Assisting the Business Development Manager in manual pricing tasks
  • Responding and processing quotations
  • Reporting daily KPI’s both internally and externally
  • Customer liaison
  • Approving customer credit note requests
  • Formulating customer rate sheets and account setups
  • Filtering enquiries for referral to local BDM’s and national sales groups

The essential qualities of the Commercial Administrator will include:

  • Experience of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent telephone manner and communication skills
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines
