BRAIN INJURY SUPPORT WORKER REQUIRED
13 to 16 hours/week, central Nottingham
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic support worker for a 12 year old young lady living in central Nottingham.
The client is an active and engaging young lady who sustained injuries at birth which have left her with a complex pattern of difficulties including an acquired brain injury. Subject to negotiation, the post is for 13 to 16 hours per week.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work as follows:
The role of the support worker will require working on a 1:1 basis, mainly in the client’s home and surrounding area. Working closely with her parents, other family members, members of her multidisciplinary team and case manager, you will be responsible for enabling and encouraging her engagement in her rehabilitation programme as well as facilitating her access to weekly football, tennis and swimming sessions. You will be supporting her to begin developing a range of domestic/self-care skills as well as supporting her with her personal organisation and timekeeping. You will need to maintain a safe working environment and maintain confidentiality.
Experience working with young people in an education, health or social care setting is essential. Ideally candidates will be experienced working with clients with a brain injury in a similar role but full training and support will be given.
A good sense of humour is required. We are looking for candidates with a young energetic outlook who are willing to swim, play football, work in a gym environment and support a range of physical activities whilst also helping the development of other age appropriate skills.
Non-smokers are essential.
You must hold a current UK driving licence and have your own vehicle which is insured for business purposes. If your insurer adds a premium for this it will be reimbursed once prof is submitted. You must be educated to at least A-level or equivalent and be able to demonstrate excellent standards of spoken and written English.
An enhanced DBS Disclosure will be sought prior to commencement in post and two professional references will be required.
Rates of pay are £12p hr weekday/£14 p hr weekends. There is an initial three-month probation period and this is a permanent position, not agency.
