An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to join AIM Altitude based in Waterbeach, Cambridge. In return we offer a salary of £26K per annum, plus benefits of 25 days holiday, plus 8 Bank holidays, Pension, Non-contributory Life Assurance and Cash back Health Care Scheme. Our location has excellent transport links via road and rail.

AIM Composites has a strong focus on production control and quality, with an ethos set deep in lean manufacturing, from purchase, engineering, project management, manufacture, quality, through to final release.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will be required to be highly motivated to drive continuous improvement, with a can do attitude and a high standard of professionalism at all times.

Responsibilities will include and are not restricted to:

Identify the correct purchasing strategy for the full range of materials and services

Build relationships with key suppliers and monitor performance to ensure delivery and quality targets are met and costs are optimised

Run and action the company MRP reports / maintain MRP and ERP with live data relating to supplier delivery dates

Maintain company stock holdings to the agreed re-order levels

Seek continual improvement, especially in relation to reducing costs and maintaining stock at an optimised level

Attend contract reviews when necessary to provide procurement input


The successful Buyer will have:

 Excellent communication skills at all levels

Experience of buying within a manufacturing facility

Knowledge and experience of MRP systems and MS Office

Experience of working within an aerospace environment and a knowledge of aerospace procedures and documentation would be an advantage


 Hours of work are 08.00 – 16.30 Monday – Thursday 08.00 – 13.00 Friday
