Job Title:                     Support Worker

 

Responsible to:          Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer (Mum)

 

Hours:                          4 hours per week / flexible during school holidays

                                     

Hourly Rate of Pay:    £12.50

 

Based at:                     Employer’s own home in Haverhill, Suffolk and out in the local community.

 

Job Purpose

 

Caring for a nonverbal autistic young boy during the school holidays either at home in Haverhill Suffolk or out in the local community.

 

Main duties:

 

To support with:  

  • Personal care e.g. changing nappies / toileting.
  • Constant supervision is required at all times.
  • Support with all safety aspects.
  • Assisting with medication
  • To support with feeding and drinking (help to make food / drinks)
  • Keeping him entertained and happy at home or either outside.
  • To build and friendly and trustworthy relationships with the child.
  • The boy does have epilepsy so you must follow his care plan.
  • The child is nonverbal and communicates through a talk pad.
  • The candidate must like dogs / cats.
  • To build a supportive relationship and take part in activities which the child enjoys.
  • To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.

Personal Specification

 

  • Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
  • Experience with caring for children with epilepsy and autism is essential
  • You should have knowledge and understanding of risks.
  • Be patient, friendly and supportive.

 

Special Conditions

 

This post is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check at the Employers request prior to commencing employment. This is confidential and at no cost to yourself. The post carries a 6-month probationary period.
