Deputy Manager for Residential Children's Home


Salary competitive - depending on qualification and experience (Hourly rate given)


Permanent (40 hours a week), Location - Essex RM11 / RM13 - Shift work required


We are looking for an experienced Deputy Manager for our residential care home for children and young people with disabilities based in Hornchurch / Rainham, Essex. We are seeking someone that has previous experience in a managerial role (Minimum 1 year).
In return we offer a competitive salary, depending on qualification and experience (Hourly rate offered, overtime is paid).
We are a well-established company operating for 20 years in the social care sector. Our home provides care for up to 5 children and young people with learning difficulties and autism (LD and ASD)


Job Type / Category:

The Deputy Manager will be responsible for:

  • Day to day management of the home and deputise in the absence of the manager
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and partake in inspections
  • To assist in the development and management of the staff team, carrying out supervisions, inducting new staff and mentor/role model support workers whilst leading and planning shifts
  • To help represent the home's mission, statement of purpose, vision and values and provide the best possible outcomes for the children and young people
  • Contribute to care plans, behaviour management plans and risk assessments
  • Providing care and daily tasks for children and young people
  • Assisting in organising and participating in various external and internal social, leisure and other activities with the young people

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

The successful Deputy Manager will have:

  • A minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care with children and young people (Previously NVQ Level3)
  • Not essential but desirable – Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management (Be prepared to work towards qualification)
  • Previous experience working with autism in residential/respite children's homes (minimum one year)
  • Experience in management role (Senior or Deputy Manager)
  • Be prepared to work full time including weekends and sleep ins and on-call.
