Job Title:    Female Personal Assistant/Support Worker

                   (Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9, PART 1 Applies)

                  

Hours:        Minimum – 18hrs per week

                   Maximum – 27hrs per week

 

18 hrs per week, 2 x 9 hrs overnights (9pm-6am) with the possibility of 9 hours overnight or 5 hours afternoon/evening shift.

 

You’re working rota will be discussed and agreed in advance however flexibility is required.  

 

Rate of Pay: £15 per hour.

                        

Work Area/Location:  The employers home address in Stowmarket, IP14

 

Responsible to:  Directly to the employer

 

About the Job:

 

The purpose of the role is to provide support care and assistance to your client and always ensure their health and safety. A summary of tasks required is listed below:  

 

Personal Care:

 

  • Assistance in and out of bed/wheelchair/feeding chair by use of ceiling hoist & track.
  • Assistance getting dressed and undressed.
  • Changing of in incontinence pads.
  • Assistance with washing and showering
  • Performing passive exercise to limbs
  • General grooming and personal appearance
  • Preparing and administering medicines
  • Preparation, setup and use of feed pump
  • Use and care of gastrostomy PEG when administering medications, water and feed.
  • Use and monitoring oxygen levels.
  • Assist in changing position during the night.
  • Suctioning of secretions as and when required
  • Use of a nebuliser to loosen mucus in upper airway.
  • Giving chest physio if required.

 

 

 

 

General Tasks:

 

  • Enable me to carry out my chosen activity whether inside or outside the home by carrying out any other request that I may reasonably make.
  • Generally caring, comforting and reassuring especially during and post seizure activity.

 

Person Specification:

 

  • Be punctual, reliable and flexible.
  • Be honest and trustworthy.
  • Establish a professional standard of care, which should be maintained at all times.
  • Be prepared to undertake any training that may be required to meet the needs of the role.
  • A willingness to adapt to your employers’ needs is essential.
  • Ensure that due consideration is given to health and safety at all times.
  • Respect and safeguard the goods and property of the employer.
  • Respect privacy and uphold confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience working with children with complex needs preferred.
