Work Pattern: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & every other Wednesday
Shift times: Start time can be 9.30am -10.30am
Hourly Rate of Pay: £11.50 Per Hour when training and rising to £12.50 once trained
Based at: Ward End, Birmingham

Job Purpose
I am a forty seven year old woman with Bethlem Myopathy (a rare type of Muscular Dystrophy which causes progressive muscle weakness), this has led to me using NIV and a powered wheelchair.
I enjoy going out walking my assistance dog, concerts, shopping, cinema, I also like playing games and binge-watching TV series.
I have a great team of staff that help me at various times of the day.
Main duties
Driving my automatic wheelchair accessible vehicle and securing me and my dog in the car.
Monitoring my breathing while we go out and fix any issues that can arise with my Non-invasive ventilator (NIV)
Support with personal care
Manual handling with another care worker, includes using a slide sheet and hoist for personal care.
Household chores such as washing up, laundry, vacuuming/ mopping, cooking, occasionally light gardening (weeding/planting pots).
Help care for my assistance dog with grooming, putting harness on and securing in car.
Perform any duties that are of a reasonable request
Person Specification:
Driver is essential and be confident to use my automatic Wheelchair Accessible vehicle with a minimum of 3 years driving experience for insurance purposes.
Be a dog lover as you will be helping me to care for my assistance dog.
Enjoy walking in parks, shopping, cinema, concerts and days out.
To be friendly, honest and have a sense of humour as these are really important to me.
Good communication skills and listening skills.
Be able to work solo and as a team
Training will be given in all aspects of my care.
Option to pick up short calls for more hours or to help cover anyone on leave.
Occasionally you may be asked to work evenings to go out to concerts, cinema etc.
