HOURS OF WORK:  06:00 -14:00 / 10:00 – 18:00   Monday to Friday  

JOB PURPOSE: 

Reporting to the Factory Manager, the post holder will be responsible for continuously overseeing the efficient running of the department and managing their team.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Organise the team ensuring availability of raw materials to support delivery of the production plan and safe storage of finished goods.
  • Control stock accuracy and material variance with the ability to justify any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all daily checks are conducted by the team reporting all defects and drive close out of corrective actions.
  • Support with the training of Standard Operating Procedures, Health, Safety & Environmental and Food Safety policies within the team, and ensure all standards are maintained.
  • Support the personal development of team members.
  • Ensure waste is minimised.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards for the area of responsibility
  • Ensure effective handovers between departments / shifts to ensure all key issues are communicated.
  • Ensure that the TROPOS (MRP) system provides real time stock accuracy.
  • Form an excellent relationship with all Internal Customers liaising where necessary to ensure that business needs and priorities are met.
  • Develop and support a team mentality within the department, recognising excellent behaviours and performance.
  • Monitor and manage time and attendance, behavioural and performance issues.
  • Adopt and promote a continuous improvement culture within the team.
  • Use own initiative to continually look for ways to improve processing methods and consider and implement solutions to problems as and when they arise
  • Maintain excellent relationships with key suppliers including providers of transport and raw materials

 PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • Must have an excellent attendance record
  • Must be flexible with hours of work (i.e. early starts / late finishes)
  • Ability to organise both yourself and others
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the Operations Team
  • Ability to prioritise and solve problems
  • Computer literate
  • Able to make effective decisions in short timescales
  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • Must lead by example and display a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Must hold Reach Truck and Counterbalance licenses  

DESIRABLE

  • Previous food manufacturing experience
