Responsible to:          The employer – Child’s parents

 

Hours:                          10 Hours per week across 2 days

                                      11:00-16:00

                                      (Days can be discussed at interview stage)

 

Hourly Rate of Pay:     £13.00 PH

 

Based at:                      Telford, TF4

 

Job Purpose

 

I am looking for a Personal Care Assistant to support my 2-year-old son for 2 days a week for 5 hours each day. My son has severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and cerebral palsy. He uses a CPAP machine to support his breathing at night. He lives at home in Telford with his sister and parents.

 

Main duties

 

Personal Care: Full support with personal care including nappy changes and dressing/bathing if required. You will be required to lift, carry and re-position the young boy using his specialist equipment, full training will be provided.

 

Social interaction: To provide social interaction including playing and reading.

 

Full training will be provided on all aspects of his care needs including CPAP, medication, moving and handling, nebuliser, chest physio, suctioning and feeds.

Be patient and supportive.

Be friendly and outgoing.

Be honest, reliable, and trustworthy. 

Be respectful of the child’s dignity, at all times.

Understand the need for privacy and confidentiality.

You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.

Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and raise any concerns with the parents immediately.

A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
