Support Worker - FEMALE
Female* Support Worker required in Carterton, Oxon
(7 x 24-hour sleep-in shifts per month)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to support and assist a 34 year old female to live independently in her own home. You will be joining an established team, who are all committed to ensuring that the client enjoys the best possible quality of life. For the right person, this will be a long term, rewarding and enjoyable role.
The applicant should be used to working as part of a team supporting individuals with complex needs in their own home.
You will need:
Understanding and patience. A good sense of humour and the ability to connect with the client.
- Ability to provide a high standard of therapeutic support with a caring, empathetic and professional approach.
- To be an animal lover and willing to support the client to look after her pets.
- To be a strong and supportive team member.
- Ability to cover planned shifts and flexibility at short notice.
- Enthusiasm and initiative.
- Sound basic education with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer skills including email, internet and document use.
- Full driving licence.
- Non-smoker.
No specific qualifications are required, but the applicant must be able to follow a mandatory training programme and to learn specialist skills, to work effectively as part of a team to deliver consistency of care.
Hours:
Rota is planned at least one month in advance, but additional cover may be required for sickness and emergency situations. Shifts commence each morning at 10.00, sleep in support is between 24.00-10.00. Sometimes 48-hour shifts are required, or split shifts for part of the day.
Rates of pay:
Waking hours - £13.00 per hour on weekdays, £15.00 per hour on weekends
National Living Wage paid for sleep-in hours, currently £11.44 per hour.
Double time is paid for bank holidays.
