Job Title: Female Personal Assistant / Support Worker
Responsible to: Directly accountable to and taking direction from the employer and the employer’s representative (Mum & Dad)
Hours: Part Time Positions available (10 hours – 25 hours per week)
Work Pattern: Variable shifts to be discussed at interview stage
Hourly Rate of Pay: £12.00 per hour
Based at: Employer’s own home in Lakenheath / Brandon near Bury St Edmunds / West Suffolk and out in the local community.
Job Purpose
To support, assist and be a friendly companion to a young female that has a rare and progressive condition called Hallervorden-Spatz disease also known as Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA).
The lady has a great sense of humour and lives in a family home with Mum & Dad. The lady has her own space in the house. The purpose is to build a trusting professional relationship with the lady, as well as being a friend to her. To support her with her day to day living, support with personal care and social care tasks and to help develop her quality of life. The lady enjoys good company, TV, football, shopping, sports and enjoys spending time with her family. Candidate to have a full UK driving licence.
Main duties:
To support with:
Personal care (washing, dressing, brushing teeth etc)
Requires full assistance with all movements and activities
Assisting medication
Rehabilitation
Requires full support with her meals, she is on a pureed diet.
Support with all transfers (in and out of wheelchair, bed, chair etc)
Support and attend health care appointments
Support with social tasks such as visiting family, going to sporting events, going shopping, going to the pub, visiting family etc.
To report any issues to the lady’s Mum and Dad.
To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
Personal Specification
Have experience of working with vulnerable adults.
Flexible in the hours and times that you can work.
The Mum and Dad play an active role in their daughter’s life, and it is essential that the candidate is trustworthy and honest.
Have a good sense of humour and enjoy a friendly joke.
You should have a thorough understanding of personal safety.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
A willingness to undergo any training highlighted by the employer.
You should have some knowledge and understanding of risks.
Have an awareness and knowledge of equal opportunities.
