Social Worker in Permanence/Children in Care (CiC)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our team in the Dorset. This role focuses on working directly with children in care (0-18 years), advocating for their needs, ensuring their voices are heard, and engaging in permanence planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work directly with children in care, advocating for their needs and ensuring their voices are known.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children's needs.
- Undertake safeguarding enquiries and develop permanence plans.
- Engage in reunification assessment and care planning.
- Apply trauma-informed knowledge and experience to support children in crisis.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Children Act, Working Together, and Care Planning.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Advanced knowledge of legislation for Children in Care, including Care Planning.
- Significant experience in direct work/life story work with children and young people.
- Advanced skills in assessing children's needs and undertaking safeguarding enquiries.
- Experience in reunification assessment and care planning.
- Trauma-informed knowledge/experience.
- Flexibility to support children in crisis.
- Ability to work with complexity such as reunification, court processes, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (Dols), and positive risk-taking.
- Strong assessment skills.
- Experience in supporting children in care or transferable skills.
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- The ideal candidate will have a robust background in working with children in care, demonstrating strong advocacy, assessment, and planning skills. They should be adept at managing complex cases involving court processes and positive risk-taking, and knowledgeable about the relevant legislative frameworks.
