ABT Products Ltd is a UK Manufacturing Company based in Ross-on-Wye, manufacturing chassis, cabs, roll bars for some of the worlds largest OEM's, as well as manufacturing Truck Mounted Forklifts for the UK, Australia, and America

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Purchasing Department as we grow the Business and continue to expand into a global market.  This vacancy is to assist in the timely supply of materials and services for both production and non-production goods for existing and new products, reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

  • Working Hours 8am - 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am - 12.30pm Friday

  • Company Sick pay after 12 Months

  • 21 Days annual leave plus bank holidays rising to 25 Days after 5 Years service

Key responsibilities

  • Raising purchase orders (ensuring accuracy) via system driven reports.
  • Expediting orders to ensure they are received on time and manage any delays. Escalate major issues to the Purchasing Manager.
  • Liaising with production personnel on any material supply issue to eliminate / minimise the effect on production.
  • Monitor supplier delivery performance and build relationships with the supply chain.
  • Sending out enquiries for new products or alternative supplier quotes. Assisting with negotiation and make recommendations.
  • Accurately receiving in goods onto the MRP system.
  • Resolving invoice queries with suppliers and communicating with Accounts.
  • Ensuring supplier prices are updated and accurate on Winman.
  • Resolving any quality issues with bought out goods and reclaim any rework costs. Processing the returns paperwork / debit notes.
  • Purchasing products, consumables and services as required by the company.
  • Assist in managing accurate and appropriate stock levels and to minimize part obsolescence.
  • Any other reasonable tasks which use your skills and abilities.

Role Requirements

You must be confident in making decisions with minimal direction or supervision, although full training will be given.  Have the ability to work and adapt to a dynamic environment, and solve problems in a logical and methodical manner.

To will show the ability to express themselves concisely and accurately to enable close liaison and excellent communication with Supplier and Internal Personnel.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous Experience of Purchasing using an MRP System
  • Previous experience of working in an Engineering or Manufacturing Industry would be beneficial
  • Competent in using Microsoft Packages (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
