Job Title: Applications Engineer Manager

Salary: £55,000 - £59,000 DEO + plus Bonus

Contract: Permanent, Fulltime+ hybrid working.

Interview Process: The selection procedure will consist of a three-stage interview process, initially with a phone call to establish essential skills, the second stage will be through a team’s meeting and the final stage is a face-to-face interview with the managing director.  

Role & Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership- Managing a team to ensure smooth processing of RFQs, Projects and applications. Working internally to upskill the team and the wider business.
  • Applications and Projects – Running, planning, and implementing internal projects to lead the application/ selection of cutting tools across a broad width of machining processes. This will entail working directly with customers to implement their cutting tool solutions.
  • Sales/Customer Support: Collaborate internally and externally with our customers and to support our sales team to identify where Excataform can offer improvements to an existing process.
  • Implement processes: Support the business in implementing processes to drive the business forward. Analysis data to drive decisions.
  • Internal training and upskilling for applications /product: As the business expands our applications Manager will support the business in training and upskilling colleagues/apprentices as well as new starters on cutting tool applications. Build a team of application Engineers to support the business internally and externally as we expand into new markets.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • 10 years minimum experience of setting and operating a CNC milling machine.
  • 5 years minimum programming/CADCAM experience
  • Can demonstrate experience of process optimisation including cutter selection.
  • Good knowledge of cutting speeds and feeds, and the effect on both cutter and component
  • Can demonstrate experience where you have shared knowledge, trained, mentored, or coached other team members or colleagues.
  • Must be competent in Microsoft office.

Desirable:

  • Management and leadership experience
  • High knowledge of cutting tool geometries
  • Have experience with special cutting tool solutions.
  • Worked alongside cutting tool manufacturers to implement process optimisation.
  • Experience in customer facing roles, problem solving and project work.
