Job description

We are actively recruiting for the role of Personal Assistant to a bright, inquisitive 5-year-old girl who, owing to a birth injury has cerebral Palsy.  She is a very happy child who loves nothing more than roaming around in her walker or role playing with her toys (with the assistance of an adult).  She is non-verbal but communicates effectively through the use of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).  She is currently PEG fed but enjoys some oral tasters.

Must have attributes:           

  • A creative, positive personality and a “can-do” attitude
  • Well organised and Good communication skills
  • A good imagination. 
  • A Full UK Drivers License & own car

 Desired experience (but not essential)

  • Experience of Cerebral Palsy in children
  • Experience with epilepsy
  • Experience of PEG feeding
  • Experience of driving a WAV

Hours

Monday – Friday split day shifts tern time (07:30 – 11:00 & 14:30 – 20:00)

Monday – Friday full day shifts holidays (07:30 – 20:00)

Saturday day 07:00 – 19:00

Monday - Sunday Waking Night shifts 19:30 – 08:00

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with therapies and rehabilitation program (Physio, OT, SaLT)
  • Assisting with personal care, such as bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding
  • Making food/administering medication
  • Some household duties to be completed related to the child
  • Engaging in age-appropriate play & assisting with activities (eg. Baking/craft)
  • Finding & accessing suitable activities in the community
  • Accompanying to appointments/activities
  • Provide personalised support in a sensitive and confidential manner
  • Thinking outside the box to come up with innovative ideas to help child/family
  • Accompanying family on short holidays
  • Establish a good working relationship with the family is paramount

Training & Background Checks
An enhanced DBS check & full training will be provided prior to commencing work and you will receive full support from the clinical team.
